who is a put writer?
A put writer is a seller of a put option. A put option gives the holder the right, but not the obligation, to sell a certain asset (usually a stock) at a specified price (the strike price) on or before a certain date (the expiration date). The put writer receives payment (the premium) from the buyer of the option in exchange for taking on the risk of potentially having to buy the asset at the strike price. The put writer is hoping that the price of the asset will not fall below the strike price, as they would then be required to buy the asset at a price higher than the market price.
